Listed by Heenan (1991) as an invalid name because it was published without a description. (E. McClintock and A. Leisser, An Annotated Checklist of Woody Ornamental Plants of California, Oregon and Washington, (1979)). Our plant came from a nursery in Devon.

Leaf colour

Colour group:

Brown

Upper surface:

Greyish-brown with a pale grey midrib and narrow orange margins.

Lower surface:

More of a greyish-green colour, with a dark brown midrib and orange margins.

Comments:

The tips of older leaves are characteristically split into two and as they age the leaves turn progressively paler orange-brown.

Comments

Tends to have relatively short wide leaves.

Published descriptions

DIA

 Bronze foliaged flax. Withstands full wind and average to damp conditions. Ideal as a wind break or screening affect. Hardy.
